Princeton University
EDIT
Princeton University was originally founded as the college of New Jersey in 1746. Its original location was Elizabeth and it was moved to Princeton in 1756. In 1777 during American Revolution, a battle was fought in nearby fields at Princeton. One of the remarkable things is that after declaration of independence the continental congress met at the university building and used Princeton as country’s capital for four months. University’s current name was given to it in 1896 along with official recognition as a university.
A major expansion in the university education was observed afterwards and it also introduced unique educational system where small groups of students interacted with the teachers to have better interest and research opportunity in their fields instead of large student strength classes. In 1887 university had a sister college for women which was closed and in 1969 it was merged with the university. At present it is a private university focusing on undergraduate as well as masters and professional degree programs. The university has no religious affiliations.
